Cynthia

We love when our brides bring their personality and culture into their weddings! Cynthia did just that. We worked together to base the design of her event around her red dress and Indian culture with metallic golds and rich reds. The tropical flowers really made the design pop and was the perfect background to the gorgeous couple.
If you would like to see more of The Canterbury Place's floral, we have recently added a Gallery section to our website. We are so excited to show it off, so check it out here!

Bouts for him

When it comes to planning a wedding, there are a few ways to bring in the groom's personality (because let's face it, it is usually about the bride). A groom's cake is a great option as well as letting him select the things that are most important to him like music or food. But have you considered personalizing his boutonniere? Below are some pictures where the boutonnieres are as unique as the groom's that are wearing them.
Call your planner to get more ideas on making your day extra special for her and him!

Kylie and Steve

Remember this adorable candy bar? Well, we now have pictures from Kylie and Steve's event! The colors were red and pink and oh so cute. Check out the amazing cake made by one of our favorite vendors, Layers Cake. This sweet event featured a pink chocolate fountain, candy bar, and Chinese lanterns that coordinated with the bride's colors perfectly!

What look are you going with for your event? Something sweet, vintage, romantic or modern? Let us help plan your special day! To check some of our other events, please see our website at www.thecanterburyplace.com

Wedding Details

When it comes to making your wedding day beautiful, it’s all in the details! So to help make your day perfect, here are some wedding ideas from a recent wedding here at The Canterbury Place that will make your day truly special and will separate you from the pack!

The most intimate moments of your wedding happen during the ceremony! You don’t need a lot of money or flare to make your ceremony beautiful. For example, just a few flowers on the edge of the ceremony chairs add a pop of color in a simple way. Flower petals down the isle are another great way to add your colors to the ceremony and it creates and ambiance your guests will never forget!

A great way to bring your wedding colors alive in a room is with ceiling swags! Draped from the ceiling, they add a hint of color, strung lights in the swags add brightness to the room, and they add an unforgettable feeling of elegance to your event!

Chairs sashes are another great way to add color and texture to your table setup. With many ways to tie them, you can create any look you want! For example, in this wedding we tied Ivory Organza sashes café style which created a very clean and elegant feel to the room.

A fun way to bring a personal touch to your wedding and give your guests a sweet token of your affection is with personalized wedding favors. There are many fun ways to make your favors pop from engraved trinkets to tasty edible to heartwarming keepsakes. For this wedding they had individual bags of monogrammed M&M’s designed in their wedding colors which melted in everyone mouths and hearts!

These are just a few fun ways to add the “special touch” to your wedding day. For additional ideas and planning please talk to your wedding consultant!

Once You Are Engaged…

When you first get engaged, it’s one of the happiest, most-fulfilling moments you’ll ever experience. This moment, however, also marks the beginning of one of the busiest times in your life! From the minute you say “yes,” you will be presented with hundreds of decisions, all of which will determine whether or not you achieve your perfect wedding day. “Where do I begin?” can be an overwhelming thought. Here are a few recommendations of things to do when you first get engaged:
For more photos from this wedding click here

 Decide on your personal style. Funky? Elegant? Trendy? Classic? Knowing the “feel” of your wedding will help you eliminate all the things that don’t mesh with your personal style, and will allow you to zero in on what fits.

 Pick your colors! You can’t make many decisions until you know this fundamental aspect. If you’re not one of those girls that has known her colors since she was 5, then take advantage of wedding blogs (see our list of favorites to the right)! See what jumps out at you, and recruit friends and family to give their opinion on what goes with your personality. Wedding magazines are another great way to find your colors. Buy a few, and cut out any picture you love. Soon you will see a pattern with your images that you love that you can incorporate into your wedding.

 Make a list of what is most important to you (i.e. the flowers, the cake, the décor, etc.). This is especially important if you are on a budget, because it will help you to know where to put your money.
 Take advantage of bridal fairs, especially if you are not sure what you like or want! Bridal fairs give you the opportunity to look at different set-ups and color schemes. They also allow you to get contact information for different vendors (i.e. the videographer, dress shops, and more). If you see something you love, you can talk to your wedding planner about making it happen!

 Start gathering addresses! Most brides will be surprised at how long it takes to gather the addresses of all your friends, family, your parent’s friends, and those people you haven’t spoken to in years, but still feel obligated to invite. A great website we recommend for organizing all of your addresses is Calligraphy by Computer. This site allows many people to add and edit your addresses from anywhere in the world.

 Choose a reception center- If you have a particular date, reserve early. Remember that almost anything can change, but not the date your location is available. Once you have the perfect location you can begin planning! If you are interested in having your event at The Canterbury Place, please call us at 801.292.5053.

These are all important, but the best piece of advice I was given when I got engaged was to enjoy this time! It’s incredibly easy to get stressed and overwhelmed, but don’t let yourself! Enjoy this singular time in your life, and learn to love making every decision that leads to your perfect day. Let the little things go, and have fun with everything else!
